A 4.8 magnitude earthquake has hit southeast of the of Karpathos island, according to a preliminary reading by the Greek Geological Survey.
There has been no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The tremor struck at 07:45 pm local time on April 29th, with the epicenter located 64 km south-east from Karpathos Island.
There are no reported casualties but the quake was strong enough to worry locals in Pylos and the neighboring Greek islands.
Earthquakes have historically caused widespread damage across central and southern Greece, Cyprus, Sicily and other neighboring regions.
Last year a series of strong earthquakes on the island of Kefalonia damaged hundreds of homes and injured more than a dozen people.
