Loukoumades, is a delicious type of deep-fried honey puffs, suitable all year long, even during the fasting season. You can enjoy them traditional with honey and cinnamon, or any other toppings you like, such as chocolate or syrup.


200g self rising flour
50g corn starch
280g water
9g dry active yeast
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
honey and chopped walnuts for garnish
Step by step: instructions and preparation:
Dissolve the yeast in the water and allow to rise for about 5 minutes, until bubbly.
In a bowl add the flour, the corn starch and the salt and combine.
Add the flour mixture in the yeast mixture. Add the honey and mix the ingredients together until smooth. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Add enough vegetable oil in a pan and heat it until bubbly. Take a handful of the dough and squeeze it you create a small ball between your thumb and your index finger. Put it on a spoon, drop it in the pan and deep fry until golden.
