The powerful 6.8R earthquake on 25th October 2018, shifted the Greek island of Zakynthos at least three centimeters to the South-West.

The shift was mainly horizontal, while no significant vertical movement was found.scientists at the National Observatory are also analyzing geodetic data from GPS stations in the Ionian islands and the Peloponnese to see whether the earthquake has caused also other movements in the wider area.
