Storms have flooded areas in Halkidiki, Kavala and the island of Thassos in northern Greece. At least two municipalities have been declared in a “state of emergency. A thunderbolt opened a hole in a house on Limnos Island.

A thunderbolt stroke a home on the island of Limnos, opened a hole on the ceiling of the living room and started a fire. The accident occurred during the thunderstorm.
The bad weather front continued striking the area on Friday with heavy rainfalls to have brought mud and rocks on the traffic network. The heavy rainfalls flooded homes and businesses in the North Aegean and the North-East mainland.
Almost all the streams and rivers on Skiathos island were flooded. Schools remain closed until upcoming Monday. In all areas damaged by the floods, local authorities have requested to be declared in state of emergency.”
