At least two people were killed and dozens injured as wild fires tore through woodland and villages around Athens on Monday, Greek authorities said.

President of Greeceā€™s Ekav emergency service Giorgos Mathiopoulos told SKAI private television that the the two casualties were discovered near the sea-side resorts of Mati, Neos Boutzas and Rafina, northeast of Athens.
Ekav said it had transferred 25 people to hospital, among them 2 seriously injured.
Fire service spokesman Stavroula Maliri said Athens had asked other EU nations to send reinforcements to help tackle the fires.
